HOLMFIRTH VILLAGE BAKERY

HOLMFIRTH VILLAGE BAKERY

INSIGHT The UK bakery market is worth £3.5 billion and is one of the largest markets in the food industry. Total volume at present is just under 4 billion units: the equivalent of almost 11 million loaves and packs sold every day. Craft bakers bake bread and bakery products on their own premises: this sector in the UK has been declining for many years, squeezed by competition both from plant bakers and multiple retailers. Many craft bakers have now diversified into catering and takeaway food, and some are now also supplying supermarkets with craft-baked bread. THE CHALLENGE With the decline of the UK craft bakery comes a need for fresh, distinctive, brand identities that are clear about their vision, values, USPs and position in the marketplace. Holmfirth Village Bakery explores the development of a modern craft bakery brand identity.

A passion for all things handmade and continental lies at the heart of this business based in the pretty, West Yorkshire village of Holmfirth.
Using an image of Holmfirth as the central focus for the logo, immediately re-enforces the authentic, village feel of the brand, whilst the subtle, stone-coloured gradient, is reflective of the traditional Yorkshire stone that can be seen in abundance throughout the village.
Using the term ‘bread specialists’ and specifying their particular USPs, immediately elevates and positions the brand within the marketplace.
A bespoke wall decal re-enforces the core values of the bakery.
